A day of new promise has officially entered into my Tapestry of Musings. A momentous day, I'm afraid, would be an understatement of epic proportions. I'm being downright silly and dramatic, but that hasn't ever stopped me before has it? Summer is all but here and if you refer to my entry from last year - The One With Summer (not a girl but the season)... - you'll see my interests and disinterests for this potentially dreadful season. We're in the midst of a horrendous drought. We're creeping up to two feet as far as rain deficit is concerned. Smoke from area fires has somewhat become the smog in this region of the country. Add all of this to my typical displeasure with this season and you've got yourself a stale bag tumultuous chips. Fear not folks, a cure for the summer blues is coming today in the form of Amanda - although Bing Cherries come in at close second.
It's move-in day for my girl and there's enough excitement in her to revive an entire senior center into a mad brouhaha. I don't think either of us can give an honest assessment of how excited we are about her move to Tallahassee. God couldn't have orchestrated things any better. When you receive gifts in life, there just isn't much room to complain. The timing of Amanda finding a job she's excited about; Kim H. graciously offering up her apartment; and the outpouring of support and encouragement from all of our friends and family has been overwhelming. Everything has just fallen into place so naturally and smoothly. I feel a tug from within to stop all of this happiness from exiting out my system.
Amanda and I had a discussion a couple nights ago about being big-headed and how that can come off as such an ugly display of human nature some times. But this is different. She kindly reminded me that boasting in the Lord is perfectly OK as long as He's the one being lifted up...not us. So I guess in this case, I'm not going to be bashful with all of these glorious happenings in our lives. We have both prayed fervently that God would progress our relationship in a manner that would not only fall under His timing, but also honor Him. I'm sure we have already faltered in some capacity, but if we hadn't, there would've been no room for grace to operate. With that being said, I want to officially welcome you, AmandaLyn, to Tallahassee. You'll always be my beautiful reminder of God's love, divinity, and providence...
