The One For Krissi...

In the distance, a little girl's laughter seeps through this sordid world. Her southern grace, which floats upon the spindrifts, gently whispers a beacon of peace and tranquility into the lives she has touched. To take and to hold are these fragile memories and images of Krissi.

As you lay down softly with the angels, we remember the genuine beauty of your soul. A child of God you became; a daughter who overwhelmed her parents with joy; a loving sister to her sisters; and an unwavering friend to those who have been forever changed and blessed to have known you. There's an outpouring of admiration for the way you lived this life that was so quickly taken from you. A reflection of you is seemingly clear now as this mysterious mist is subdued. All of us left behind will choose to remember how you lived and the happiness you brought to our lives. Not obligatorily, but as a natural and sincere response to how we want to celebrate a life well-lived and reminisce every time we see that golden smile of yours.

Beyond this forefront, a certain sense of elation has been breached - formidable trepidations have swirled in the murkiness of mysticism. What looms ahead now are only certain certainties. I will miss your innocent chuckles in response to my boyish banter and inefficient attempts of sounding like a Chinese exchange student; your masterful wit and ability to humor me; and perhaps the most precious of all…a glimpse into your heart and how that brought unexplainable solace to my life. The days are slowly passing now. You tread the dawn with our Heavenly Father as burdens are set free. I almost feel as if I'm at the cusp of understanding what “light as a child” means in life. We are not to worry about the things that are in His control but simply live life as purely as life can be lived. In some cosmic way, this vivid image was encompassed and manifested through the time I knew you. You inspired me to really live; to not sulk and be burdened by the insignificant surroundings of this world. Thank you for sharing the life that you lived Krissi. Until we meet again, know that you will be missed everyday...

May He support us all the day long, till the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and as the busy world is hushed and the fever of life is over and our work is done. Then in Thine mercy Lord grant us a safe lodging and a holy rest and peace at the last with you, AMEN.
