The One With VBS '06 (day three)...

OK, I'm totally convinced that my kids for the week are the best ones out of all the groups at VBS. Well, I would take a few from some other groups and add them to mine, but since I can't do that, I'll just go ahead and proclaim to the world via the Internet, more specifically my ghetto site, that my kids are the cutest bunch of kids you'll ever meet. And the thing of it is, they behave so well. I really like the fact that they actually listen to me and respect me - WOW!!! How you could ever take a 5'5 Chinese boy seriously is beyond me.

Tonight, my favorite kid of the bunch returned; and she brought a friend with her. Why is it that when little kids smile, it makes your heart melt? Not only is Kelsey 2 (K2) the nicest to me, she smiles so big that it literally lights up the entire room. It's true, I tested this theory during our story time about being faithful to God. We turned out the lights to participate in the activity and I could still see her smile. Towards the end of the night I told her that her smile was the best and that she couldn't possibly smile any bigger. So she took me up on my challenge and found some extra smiling muscles (apparently kids have these?) and smiled away even more. She eventually resorted to just opening her mouth super wide to humor me - and it did just that. Anyways, it was pretty much the coolest thing in the world that we had our little interaction time. K2 told me that she was bummed that she probably won't make it for the closing program. That's sad because it's gonna be so much fun...to be part of all the closing festivities and tying everything together about Christ will be truly AWESOME!!! Two of my boys were MIAs tonight. That left just me and two boys to fend off the estrogen. But at this age, you really can't help but to see past the "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus," phenomenon.

I've had nine kids every night thus far. Hopefully I'll have everyone there for the last night. That would be so grand. The kids learned about trusting the Lord the first night; second night was about forgiving; and the third was learning to be faithful to God. It's amazing how kids can brighten your day. Well, mostly my kids, that is. I told the kids tonight that I would buy them all Ring Pops if they came the last night and behaved well for me. It actually started as a deal exclusive to K2 so she would come, but then I realized how disastrous it would be if I just got one Ring Pop. And plus, all of the kids were really great for me. It's just that K2 really made a big difference at making my job easier. I knew I could always count on her to be the one who would set the example for the other kids. So after the Ring Pop announcement, they were all so excited - alas, that made K2 even more bummed. I know, I know...mean Mr. Henry. Well, maybe that combined with the fact that there will be a water slide tomorrow will bring her back. I mean afterall, doesn't every little girl need a Ring Pop? We'll see what happens...
