I finally got my 7-Eleven fix last weekend. It included 84 ounces of pure-frozen bliss (Cherry, Mountain Dew, and Blue Rasberry were the flavors) and two containers of spicy-nacho cheese, jalapenos, and tortilla chips. Ladies and gentlemen, I am a new man due to all this yumminess. Furthermore, there were four yummy-squared Krystal burgers, chili cheese fries, and three large slices of Bizarro's famous New York-style pizza that graced this peculiar pool of taste buds. That's right...all 10,000 or so of them were in yummy-food heaven. I don't really care if it killed my diet or made me less healthy. It was soooooo worth it!!!
All of this was possible due to our trip down to Brevard. This time around, Tony was added to the list of FFV guys to make the trek down. I was going down to West Palm Beach to get my car tuned anyways, so we combined all of the to-do's from our last "intended" trip into this short-weekend time frame - sans our visit with LP as she was up in Tallahassee avoiding us. We did, however, manage to spend a few hours with her in the confines of AMC watching, Cars. Howard and I did the nice thing and bought her an ICEE (poor girl doesn't realize how inferior they are to Slurpees). So anyways, car tuning you ask? I basically paid a guy from Seattle, WA, to tune my car to extract more horsepower (HP) out of it. It's a bit confusing as to what he does to achieve this, but basically he changes the parameters of my car's ECU (Engine Control Unit) to run more HP and more torque (what your hiny feels as your depress the throttle) all at a safe level to where my car doesn't blow up before my eyes. I winded up with 240 HP to the wheels (probably right at 300 HP to the crank - it came stock with 227 HP). This should propel my car pretty quickly to 60 MPH and a 1/4 mile...both to which are important numbers to car ethusiasts. To keep from boring you any further with all this car talk, I'll just go ahead and say that although my car still isn't "Too Fast" or "Too Furious," it'll at least keep me happy for a little while before the next mod bug comes around.
During this trip, we also had the chance to see a childhood friend of mine, Anthony. We also got to meet his wife and two kids - one of which was a newborn. It was a short but sweet time of "meet and greet." The fact that we got to eat Bizarro's pizza - the best pizzeria in all of Florida - with Anthony and his daughter was the "cherry on top" to our time together. Aside from the delectable New Yory-style pizza and time catching up, I found it amusing that Howard, with his Germanness, managed to sway the fine Italian cashier to give him a free drink. I had ordered a large pie with two drinks but then realized that Howard also needed a drink. So I kinda thought loudly to myself about how I forgot to order another drink and the cashier overheard me. She grabs another beverage cup from the tall stash and gives it to me without even saying anything or asking for more money. I'm convinced that Howard was giving her Blitzkrieg winks. Either she was really threatened by his abnormal-sized eyes or she was totally hAwt for his charm and inconspicuous part in his hair. In any case, there's this ancient legacy of how Germans can manipulate people's minds; Howard's not an exception. There could easily be a site devoted to his misadventures with his effect on females (and males - ask him, not me) he never has the intentions of attracting, but I digress...
The Bonhamers opened up their beachside home to Tony and me. We got stay in Carol's (Howard's sister) old room. As we readied ourselves for a much needed night of slumber, Tony and I were reminded of our first home on beachside since we had shared the same room with twin beds. This was a pretty cool nostaligic moment for the two of us. With me on the brink of turning 30 and Tony close to the midway point between 30 and 40, it was such an unexpected surprise to have shared some childhood memories as adults. Thank you Bonhamers for the wonderful hospitality, a great breakfast Sunday morning, and the comical entertainment which ensued from your typical family-cooking drama.
What a sublime weekend this turned out to be. Testocerone bonding, great food, lots of car-related stuff, time with good friends, and a barrel of laughs to boot. Fixed Front Valley has never been this good. Until the next adventure you circus animals...
